It is really important for both men and women to train with weights or with their bodyweight.

Strength training can reduce the risk of osteoporosis, especially in woman. Strength training has also shown to help slow bone loss down, it can also help to build new bone. Activities that put stress on the bones can cause the bone cells to form more bone. The results are stronger and denser bones. Also, both men and women lose muscle mass as they age, this is called sarcopenia and is a natural part of aging, after the age of 30, you will begin to lose as much as 3 to 5% of your muscle mass per decade. This is another major reason why we should weight train at all ages. Squats, lunges and push ups are great examples of body weight exercises
When we lift weight we are increasing our muscle mass, please (don’t think this will happen overnight) , it can take years to reach goals, but that muscle will protect your joints, preventing injury, improve your balance and flexibility which will aid you to remain independent as you age. Also the more muscle mass you have this can help with weight management. Meaning you will have a better fat to lean muscle ratio. As you gain muscle your body burns more calories at rest and that is a good thing
